Escape to Heaven

More Glimpses into Heave -- Inspiring True Stores of Hope and Peace at the End of LIfe's Journey

From the author
There is more to death than simply ceasing to live. In Glimpses of Heaven, retired hospice nurse Trudy Harris offered an intimate look at the final days and moments of terminally ill and dying people. Now she shares more of her stories and also stories from other medical and hospice professionals, allowing the veil to be drawn back on God’s handiwork, while we are both living and dying.

If you have lost a loved one, are facing a terminal illness, or are simply curious about what happens when we pass from life to death, More Glimpses of Heaven offers you an even deeper insight into God’s plan for our lives every day.

The author, Trudy Harris RN, is a former hospice nurse and former president of the Hospice Foundation for Caring. Since retirement, Harris remains active in connecting the needs of the terminally ill and dying people in her community with the hospice program she knows can best meet their needs.

My take
Anyone who doesn't believe that God holds our hand as we pass from this life, you need to read this book. If you are skeptical about the existence of God and eternity, you need to read this book. Even if you know you will live with the Lord after this life, you need to read this book.

I have never been with someone as they pass from this life to the next but after reading More Glimpses of Heaven, it seems there is such peace within the patient when they know their time is near. God shows them love and comfort at that most important time in their life, it's heart-warming to see the joy they feel.

Ms Harris and all the other contributors to this book seem so compassionate and caring---it must take a very special person to become a hospice nurse. I can only hope that when the time comes for someone I love to go through that eternal doorway, there is a hospice nurse like those in the book sitting by our side.

Thank you to Ms Harris and all the other contributors for sharing their stories.

Available November 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.  Thanks to Donna Hausler and the Baker Publishing Group for the opportunity to review this book.
