January's escape with One Little Word

January was the start of the Ali Edwards' class called One Little Word over at Big Picture Classes. It's all about finding the word you want to focus on for the year. The word you want to use as a reflection for your day-to-day life. Ali's word is "light" for 2011. And over in the message boards for the class, there are a bunch of awesome selections---I'm going to have to make a list of them for next year! LOL

When I told the hubby what I wanted to do with this class, we talked about what word would reflect what we want to accomplish this year. We have so many things going on in our life right now that it's sometimes hard to be positive about it all. So we decided that we are going to take each day, each challenge, and each gift as an opportunity. Opportunities that we are going to explore throughout 2011. I was just so excited that he wanted to help me with the "thinking" part of the class (NOT the "artsy" part as he likes to tell people!)--it's the first time he's actually wanted to get involved with a class that I'm taking!  :)

The quote (or mantra) that we have decided to use is "Each day, in every way, I keep getting better & better" by Émile Coué. And if we take each day as an opportunity, we WILL get better & better--it's all in how you approach it.

I decided to make a separate page each month with some highlights from that month. I happened to have some extra 5x7 page protectors so each month will go in those. January was a beautiful month---the weather here was fabulous & we took the opportunity to enjoy it. We also had a surprise 80th birthday party for my mom with all my family (& some friends) and it was beautiful---we had the opportunity to spend time with family.

This is the back side of the prior page. This is my list of the opportunities we had in January. I'm not super excited about this page but it will have to do! LOL  I have 11 more months to make a fabulous page!

Today starts the January One Little Word (OLW) blog hop!! Head on over to the next blog at http://donnabryantdurand.blogspot.com. But here are the rest of the blogs so all the addresses are in one place. Have a blast!!
